To continue protecting the health and safety of the Petersburg community, City facilities will remain closed to the public until further notice.  

Beginning May 11, 2020, the City will return to normal operating hours of 8:30am - 5:00pm. City employees will be available by phone and email during operating hours.

The Office of Billing and Collections will no longer accept cash payments. At this time, we are only accepting credit/debit card, money order, cashier check, or personal check.


Due to printing delays, the utility bills for the April 2020 period will be sent on April 23, 2020 and the new due date will be May 14, 2020. 

June 1, 2020 UPDATE:

Effective Monday, June 1st, the City of Petersburg will open a limited service window located at the Fiscal Management Building (144 N. Sycamore Street).


This limited service area will be open only for water connection services. The service window will be open for operation Monday-Friday during the hours of 9:30am-12:00pm and 1:00pm–3:30pm.


The Office of Billing and Collections has suspended the acceptance of cash payments. At this time, we are only accepting credit/debit card, money order, cashier check, or personal check.


While this service window is primarily for billing and collections, the Commissioner of the Revenue will also have access to assist customers should the need arise.

In accordance with Executive Order #55, the new collection window for Utilities customers will remain closed until further notice.

To minimize any potential spread or exposure, the following payment methods will be accepted:

- Online Payment Portal

- Drop Box ( located at 144 N. Sycamore Street, the sign reads "Night Depository" ) 

- Pay by Mail ( P.O. Box 1271 Petersburg, VA 23804 )


April 1, 2020 Update: 

In accordance with Executive Order #55, the new collection window for Utilities customers will remain closed through April 17, 2020.

Utilities will accept customers for essential water connection services only through the new collections window:

- Monday-Friday, 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm

The new collections window is located in the Fiscal Management Building (144 N. Sycamore Street).
