Free Trees for Petersburg! Virginia State University and the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges have partnered on a grant from the VA Dept. of Forestry to provide trees at no cost to residents, organizations, and businesses in Petersburg. TREE CHOICES:
REDBUD – small tree, heart shaped leaves, beautiful purple spring flowers
SERVICE BERRY – small tree with a form similar to crape myrtle. Small white flowers in spring, red berries in the fall
WITCH HAZEL – small shrub or tree with yellow blossoms in late winter with lovely yellow fall foliage
SWEET MAGNOLIA – beautiful shade tree with attractive white blooms and large glossy leaves
FRINGE TREE – small tree with delicate white spring blossoms with yellow foliage in the fall
