Petersburg City Government Offices Closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Petersburg City government offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. Offices will reopen during normal business hours on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Dogwood Trace Golf Course will be open on Monday, January 20. Visit www.dogwoodtracegolf.com/ for available tee times.
Petersburg Area Transit bus operations will operate on regular schedules on Monday, January 20.
CVWMA recycling and Meridian Waste trash collections will operate on a regular schedule for the week of January 20 – 24.
The City of Petersburg's annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration will take place at the Petersburg Public Library at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 19. All are welcome and there is no charge to attend. This year's keynote speaker is Dr. John Kinney. The Message of Hope will be delivered by Pastor Lamont A. Hobbs, and there will be performances by The Company Band and Solomon Hill. Doors open at 2:30 pm.
Sheriff Vanessa Crawford is hosting Petersburg’s inaugural Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade on Monday, January 20 at 9:00 am, beginning on Pocahontas Island. The parade will then proceed up to the MLK Bridge, turn left onto Adams Street, ending at the intersection of Adams and Franklin Streets.
