The City of Petersburg is excited to announce that three film companies will be coming to the area for filming of upcoming movies and television series.
“The City of Petersburg couldn’t be more excited that our wonderful city has been chosen as the location for several upcoming films,” said City Manager William E. Johnson, III. “These are prime opportunities for the city to highlight our many amenities and an even greater opportunity to support the continued economic development in the city and Petersburg’s growing film industry. Petersburg would like to thank the Virginia Film Office for their work.”
LionHeart Film Works Company will be filming a three-part series of the story of the American Revolution from beginning to end for the Discovery Network. Disney’s Point of Honor is scheduled to start shooting Labor Day through end of October. AMC’s Turn will be returning to Petersburg for their second season and will start filming end of September through February.
“Filmmaking and the traffic it brings really helps to drive our economy and boost tourism. It is an investment in our city, its treasures and its future. In Petersburg, film has helped to put us back on the map. We welcome opportunities to use our unique city as a backdrop to any appropriate film”, said Brian C. Little, Sr., Director of Cultural Affairs, Arts and Tourism.
More information will be available to the community once film locations have been decided.
