The two southbound traffic lanes on South Union Street in Petersburg, between Washington and Wythe Streets, will be closed from December 8, 2021 through January 15, 2022. The northbound lane on Union Street leading to City Hall will be open.
Construction on the new Park & Ride parking deck behind the Transit Center is underway. Twelve-foot-wide trucks will be on Union Street unloading large structural materials. A crane will lift the materials from trucks to the construction area. When the crane is moving materials from the trucks, all traffic on Union Street will be stopped. It is expected that up to 12 trucks will be unloaded each day.
It is suggested that motorists use Market or Sycamore Streets as detours.
