Petersburg Appoints Director of Human Resources

The City of Petersburg is proud to announce the appointment of Delvont’e Frenzley as its new Human Resources Director. Mr. Frenzley has served as the interim HR Director for the past year, during which he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication. Frenzley will oversee all HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational development, and strategic workforce planning, ensuring the City’s workforce remains strong, engaged, and well-supported.

 

“Throughout the recruitment process for the HR position, Mr. Frenzley demonstrated solid leadership, professionalism, and genuine dedication to staff recruitment, retention, and team building,” said City Manager March Altman. “I am confident he will continue to serve with these characteristics to help build and sustain a high-performing Petersburg team that supports City Council’s vision for providing a superior level of service to the community.”

 

Frenzley brings over 15 years of experience in human resources and leadership, with a strong foundation in workforce management, employee engagement, and compliance. He is known for his strategic approach to HR management, employee advocacy, and innovative problem-solving. Throughout his career, Frenzley has been recognized for his commitment to workforce excellence and his ability to drive positive change in organizational culture.

 

“I’m honored to step into this role as Human Resources Director for the City of Petersburg,” said Frenzley. “As a lifelong resident of Petersburg, I take great pride in serving my city and ensuring our employees are supported, developed, and empowered. Employee engagement is the foundation of a thriving workforce, and I look forward to implementing initiatives that enhance workplace culture and drive Petersburg forward.”

 

Before joining the City of Petersburg, Frenzley worked with Maximus Federal for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where he specialized in operations management, employee development, policy implementation, and employee engagement initiatives. 

 

In addition to his professional achievements, Frenzley is committed to community service. He has worked with the Salvation Army Men’s Shelter, counseling and connecting individuals with vital resources and services. He is also passionate about mentoring youth and helping them achieve personal and professional growth.
 
 Frenzley holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia State University.
