[ARCHIVED] City of Petersburg Kicks-Off Pothole Blitz

With the onset of warmer, dry weather, the city’s Public Works Department began aggressively repairing potholes on March 16th and will continue the program through March 31st. The aggressive plan will address more than currently 300 repair requests that have been received concerning potholes throughout the city at an estimated cost of $20,000. Public Works crews are averaging about 100 potholes repairs per day. The City maintains over 365 lane miles of roads throughout the city.

“This past winter’s precipitation has caused an increased number of potholes,” said Mike Mee, Public Works Street Operations General Manager. “We want to close out our pothole repair blitz aggressively and I encourage all residents and motorists to assist us in this process by continuing to report all potholes.”

Potholes can be reported, 24 hours a day, by calling the City’s Street Maintenance Division at (804) 733-2415 or using the Government Outreach application on iPhones or Androids. Patching operations are prioritized by pothole severity and location, with some severe potholes on high-traffic roads filled within 24 hours.
