2017 Summer Program
Let's Move Summer Camp 

Parks & Leisure Services a division of Leisure and Culture Affairs will offer a dynamic and enriching summer recreation program"Let's Move"  for Petersburg residents ages six (6) thru 12 (twelve). Programs and activities will contribute to the physical,  mental and social growth of each participant. We are anxiously awaiting to engage your child in the "Let's Move"  Summer Experience. 

The Summer Program will begin/end Wednesday, July 5, 2017 - Thursday, August 17, 2017 for Petersburg residents ages 6-12, Monday thru Thursday at Peabody Middle School, 9:00-400PM. Activities will include: 

  • Breakfast and Lunch served daily
  • Fitness  
  • Gardening 
  • Wrestling Camp 
  • Life Skills Basketball Camp 
  • STEAM Activities
  • Pop-Up Reading in the PARK 
  • Library Visits 
  • Self Esteem Camp 
  • Chivalry Camp 
  • Golf Program
  • Kickball League and Tournament
  • Tennis Camp
  • Softball Camp
  • Walking Club
  • Nutrition Classes
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Movie Time

Registration:  You may obtain a registration form from the Parks & Leisure Services Office, 1937 Johnson Road, Monday thru Friday 8:30-5:00PM. Deadline to register: Friday, June 16, 2017, you must present a copy of the child's report card and a DMV Identification Card (the Child). 2017 Summer Science Camp - "The Sci-Tastic Camp

2017 Sci-Tastic Camp
St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Virginia State University and the City of Petersburg Parks & Leisure Services Partnership provides an awesome summer experience for rising 4th and 5th graders to explore the exciting world of SCIENCE! The program is held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Monday thru Thursday, 9:00-4:00PM, July 5 - July 20, 2017. 

Registration Deadline:  June 26, 2017 - Registration Forms can be obtained at the Parks & Leisure Services Office, Monday thru Friday, 8:30-5:00PM.  The Sci-tastic Camp is open to Petersburg Residents and Non Petersburg Residents.

The Farmer Street Pool will open Saturday, July 22, 2017

All pool participants must complete a registration form. Ages 18 & over will present Identification upon entering the pool site. 

All children Ages 10 & under must have a parent or guardian 18 years or older accompany him or her the duration of time at the pool site.

All users must wear swim wear (swim shorts with string, bathing suit). Please read all posted materials at the pool concerning safety, rules and pool etiquette. The ratio of Lifeguard to pool users: 1:25. Food and beverages are not allowed  (exception) plastic water bottles and sports drinks are allowed.

LINKING OUR YOUTH TO THE STEAM EFFECT

The Petersburg (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated in partnership with Petersburg Parks & Leisure Services will kick off the "Linking  our Youth To STEAM EFFECT" Program on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.  The goal is to engage the PPLS Let's Move After School Students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics Activities. The "Inquiry in Action" Book  will be used to assist the students in the development  and understanding of the "scientific inquiry". 

The STEAM activities will be held weekly beginning October and ending in April - each Wednesday. For additional information - please call 804-324-4014.
