Welcome to the City of Petersburg Quality Circle for a Healthy Community. The City's Leadership is committed to creating a healthier community in Petersburg for people who live, work, recreate, and visit our City. The Quality Circle for a Healthy Community is currently comprised of city department leaders and staff, Crater Health District leadership, and Petersburg Public School representatives, working creatively and collaboratively to address some of the challenging health issues in our City.

Goals
City Wellness Program

We hope to improve the overall health status of our residents and city employees. We know that it's an ongoing process to not only sustain control over one's health, but to improve it as well.

  •  1) Promote healthy lifestyles among employees and residents.
  •  2) Promote physical activity among employees, residents and guests.
  • 3) Improve the physical environment to promote health and wellness.

 


Programs & Activties

The Quality Circle for a Healthy Community offers varies programs and activities for City Employees and City Residents. The programs/activities include aerobics, yoga, zumba, health sessions, health fairs and an Annual City Employee Basketball Tournament.

City Employee Biggest Healthy Loser Campaign

The Quality Circle for a Healthy Community in partnership with Healthy Heart Plus II launched the 1st City Employee Biggest Healthy Loser Campaign. Over 100 employees  enrolled in the program. The program consists of weekly weigh-in stations, health and wellness sessions, exercise classes and incentives. The grand prize: $1,000

The outcome objectives include:

-95% of participants will be able to identify ways to introduce healthier foods into their lifestyle.
-75% of participants will report improved health on one or more domains: reduction in weight, blood glucose with normal range, blood pressure with normal range  blood cholesterol with normal range, or improved overall attitude toward health.

The Biggest Healthy Loser Campaign will operate for three months and will conclude with a Celebration. The Biggest Healthy Loser Winner will be announced on April 1, 2014 at the scheduled City Council Meeting.
